- This book is useful for Beginner who don't want to get involve with complex German's grammar. The author used the way of english speaker to use German. he compared the sentences, the paragraph and article in the common used from English into German. About Grammar, this book wrapped up the essence of German for the beginner, it will help you to read German Language and synthesis the simple and easy sentence in order to communicate to other more effeciently. - This is a great book for a beginner. It is structured very well and easy to follow.
I Highly recommend it. - Speaking as someone who is getting back into learning German, I'm finding this book helpful. It starts out with some basic things that I already know, but quickly gets to things that I needed a refresher for. Now I'm getting into some grammatical topics that I either didn't know, or knew about them but never had them spelled out so clearly before. It's such a relief to have German grammar actually spelled out so clearly and understandably. I'm looking forward to getting further along and strengthening my German even more.
The one negative thing about it is that the while it goes into the very basics in the beginning, it also has some vocabulary and uses some grammar concepts early on that may not be easy for a beginner to understand. For example, chapter 2 has the phrase 'kennen zu lernen' without introducing the word 'kennenlernen' and explaining how that turns into 'kennen zu lernen' in some cases. While it has English translations of German sentences, since the word order isn't the same between the 2 languages, it would help if it translated the words before putting them into a sentence.
Still, if you have a basic understanding of German, this book will definitely help you increase your skills and teach you things clearly and simply. If this describes you then I highly recommend the book. - I have been taking many German classes over the last year and a half, but I am do not even consider myself fluent in a conversational manner. However, this book has explained things that have vexed me in a very understandable way, much unlike my class textbooks.
The book is very easy to follow along with and has a nice simple design correlating throughout its pages.
