How far will he go to belong?

Fierce, famed Highland warrior Broch MacLeod has always been a bastard—until one day he isn’t. And now that he’s discovered his real family, he intends to do whatever it takes to carve a place for himself in it, including wedding the lass known as the Hellion of the Highlands.

What will she do for vengeance?

When strong-willed, independent Katreine Kinntoch is forced to wed her sworn enemy’s son, she vows never to surrender her body or heart to the wickedly handsome, too-cocky Scot. Instead, she intends to make him dislike her so much that he’ll gladly send her back to her home.

How long will it take them to see they are each other’s only hope?

Danger and treachery unexpectedly bring Broch and Katreine closer, but can they trust each other enough to choose love over the ties that bind and the revenge that burns all around them?

*If you love romantic, page-turning books set in the mysterious, rugged Medieval Highlands that are about honorable, alpha Scottish warriors and the brave heroines who capture their hearts, then this is the perfect novel for you!*

Secrets, seduction, and romance sizzle in this Highlander Vows Entangled Hearts novel from USA Today bestselling author Julie Johnstone.

"Broch McLeod, the King’s Right Hand, has been tasked to find Katreine Kinntoch and see that she is married to Lord Blackswell’s heir, Brodee. The Kinntochs and the Blackswells are sworn enemies. There is a land dispute between them, but the more important reason for the feud is that Katreine and her family believe Brodee murdered her older sister who was his betrothed. No sooner has Broch found her and rescued her from a band of thugs sent by the Blackswell to find her, he found out that the nickname Hellion of the Highlands was deserved. Getting her back home included chasing her through rough water, battling a pack of wolves, and spending a night in a cold cave – not exactly the way or place to begin to fall in love. When Broch goes to the Blackswells, he does not find answers to the raiding on Kinntoch lands or the murders, but he learns who he really is. He returns to tell the Kinntochs Katreine must marry the Blackswell heir, but she won’t be marrying Brodee. Who is the Heir (any guesses)? Who is Broch? Who murdered Brodee’s betrothed and his mistress? Is there an HEA in here somewhere?

This is such an exciting story, a fast-paced unpredictable Highland Adventure. There’s danger, murder, suspense, and a good dose of humor. Broch is a warrior through and through, tough, brave, protective, and loyal. He has a tender side, too, but he doesn’t show that to everyone. Feisty is not a strong enough word to describe Katreine. She is petite and beautiful, and fierce, courageous, determined, and loyal. She rarely shows her tender side to anyone. The interaction between these two is humorous, entertaining, and poignant. William was hilarious, kind of like a sidekick to a super hero. Julie has another winner with this one. The latest story in the Highlander Vows: Entangled Hearts Series is not to be missed. I think it might be my favorite in the series."

  • As an avid reader of this series I waited a long time for Broch to have his story. He started out as a secondary character who grew throughout the books, almost like he was calling out for his HEA. Thankfully Julie heard him and has written a story worthy of him and as always given him a heroine who is bold, fierce and brave. Broch has spent his life trying to prove his worth not realizing he is worthy, he has also been searching for a sense of belonging. In this book his mission for the King takes him to a place he never thought he would find. Katreine, our fearless heroine is determined not to marry the man she blames for the death of her sister and forever be tied to the family she hates. Enter our cocky hero, as you can imagine sparks fly instantly between these two. Together they fight to find the truth while resisting their attraction to one another. Ultimately the truth is revealed and love wins out. What makes Julie’s stories so good is that although they are set in medieval times her characters are believable and you become immersed in their lives. Her females characters are always strong, independent women who may want love but lose nothing of themselves in the process, which is so true of us Scots. I love her use of language and attention to detail. I cannot recommend her series enough. Even if this is your first read you will enjoy it and want to go back and read them all.
  • Absolutely loved Broch and Katreine's story. It is full of great characters with a murder mystery that will entertain for hours.
Broch is the kings right hand and is sent to the Highlands to insure a marriage takes place between feuding clans. However, Katreine and her family are unwilling to have her marry into a clan they believe murdered her sister.
Broch promises to investigate the the clan she and write the King of his findings, however thing change when it is discovered that Broch is the lost their of the clan he is investigating. This now makes him the man Katreine is to marry and together they must find the truth.
Great read!!! I received this book for an honest review.
  • What an adventure when you open this book. Brock was the “Beast of Skye”, Bastard and right hand man to King of Scot’S. He never had a family and when he found his father and brother he was so confused. Were they murderers or loyal men. He had been a bastard this morning, now he had a family and would be marrying Kathreine, the hellion of the Highlanders. She was the biggest challenge he would ever face.
  • When A Highlander Weds a Hellion is book 8 in the Highlander Vows Entangled Hearts series by Julie Johnstone. I have enjoyed every one of these books. They can be read as stand alone works, but they are so much better in a series. The richness of the characters is better tracked in reading them in order. I liked this book, but it wasn’t my favorite in the series. Outlaw still holds that place quite firmly. I did like the hero Broch MacLeod. But I wasn’t a huge fan of the heroine Katriene. I grow weary of “strong Scottish females” who actually are just stubborn, misguided and needy. Overall a good book with complex characters and some twists and turns that I didn’t expect. Johnstone is one of those talented authors that I follow without hesitation. I was gifted a copy of this book.
  • I have read slot of Julie's stories and this one was the same kind of story just different names. I normally liketheheroinesbut this one was supposed to stringing theme were always one step ahead of her. She was always playing catch up. She had such potential, but she fell flat. Brodie apparently hassling social fighting skills we never hear about. She Easterbrook have power in the air instance but then she turns to total pudding no real backbone at all. And no real human response to being dragged to what she supposedly knows to be her death, she has no real visceral reaction to the place her sister was supposedly murdered. We need some depth and some real grown up women who can think and have some semblance control over themselves....or at least some natural reactions to what basically is forced surrender of their freedom and claim to autonomous their own bodies..
